Anees Thenari is a humble man and his humility shines through in the way he embraces his failures and uses them as stepping stones towards his path to success. Things haven’t come easy to him, but he is absolute acceptance of the struggle which has gotten him this far.

His story begins with his move to Kochi following his schooling. The workaholic-bug had bitten him early, as can be seen by him taking up a part-time job with Reliance Communications alongside his studies. By the third year of working, he got into the Direct Selling industry with a Chinese company where he honed his skills for around three years.

Then, in 2010, he decided to tap into his entrepreneurial abilities and began a garments trading business. That didn’t do as well as he expected so he decided to wrap things up in India and head to the Gulf in search of greener pastures. He worked in a warehousing & logistics unit in Saudi Arabia.

Not long after, he moved back to India, with a renewed sense of confidence and set up two traditional businesses- a department store and Khazana Gold as well as an establishment called ATH Group. Alongside his two former traditional businesses, the import-export business under the ATH banner allowed him to tap into his previous experience of working with garments to ameliorate his work. They focused on supplying primarily tee-shirts to a predominantly Gulf market.

After a period of three years, he wrapped up his traditional businesses and focused his energy solely on his import-export business. It was then that he set up his brand Ostrich. His focus now is on importing ACs from China to be distributed in three Southern Indian states.

He believed that it was important for ATH Group to have to a global footprint and so along with offices in the Gulf, he decided to expand by opening up a division called Divitis Auri, a gold trading unit. It mainly deals with a process of supplying gold from Africa to markets in Dubai which is, in a way, a part of his import-export business too. He is also a shareholder in Herald Media Network Ltd UK and the director of Starfold Media Network Pvt Ltd, engaged in the business of Information Technology, media and ed-tech.

The rest, as they say, is part of the golden history of this NRI Businessman’s life.
