The introduction of Reliance Jio has brought in the chaos among the various telecom companies in the sector. Not only it set the bars of data availability higher, it also made the charges go cheaper too. While it badly affected the leading service providers it was the subscribers who reaped all the benefits.
Post the billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Jio debut the markets were flooded with free voice calls and aggressively priced high speed data. In order to retake the matters into their own hands and to gain the markets they lost, the rivals started to dice and slash their tariffs too, simultaneously. The results – a complete change of the telecom market in just 12 months.
Today, reducing the charges and providing a faster internet speed is the only market strategy viable. All the four major telecom operators such as Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea are offering multiple tariff packs to lure subscribers towards them. The most prominent change that can be seen over this is the substantial crash of mobile data tariff plans.
The price you pay for data as part of your mobile plan continues to fall rapidly. But as competition in the market has intensified, unlimited data plan now start at even lower prices. As per the recent updates the race is on to get the unlimited plans under Rs 500, making it affordable to many. The benchmark of 1GB per day is the key point to this rate wars in the telecom sector.
Reliance Jio is still the most popular prepaid plans since its inclusion in the Indian telecom sector. The prices of Reliance Jio prepaid plans start from Rs 19 and goes up to Rs 9999. Voice calls in all plans are free and you also get an access to Jio’s popular suite of entertainment apps. Reliance has three plans that are under the Rs 500 mark for good reasons. All Jio plans of 309, 399 and 459 offers 1GB per day with a validity of 49, 70 and 84 days respectively. SMS messaging services are free with all plans.
In an attempt to clash with the Reliance Jio, Airtel have introduced plans of 448 and 495 with 1GB internet data at the speed of 4G or 3G. Comparatively there is a limitation in free calls and messages number but with network reachability larger than Reliance to boast for this may be just a bump in the road.
Even though behind, both Idea and Vodafone has also pitched into the low tariff and 1GB per day realm with their charges of 357 and 348 respectively. While Vodafone offers unlimited local and STD calls and messages, Idea has limitations in the SMS numbers per day apparently.
