
All those who love the thrill of speed, were treated with a dizzying ride if they happened to be in Kochi on 14 December. The fourth edition of Pete’s super cars event pulled in auto lovers from every nook and cranny of the city.
This year there were there was a galore of events at the Pete’s Festival of Speed with Power Drive, auto stunts, go-carting, autocross, radio-controlled car competitions, exhibitions, rock show, entertainment, food festival, merchandising, new launches, etc. The event was streamed on the virtual space too.
MRF presented the biggest automobile festival, 1st edition of ‘Pete’s Festival of Speed’ in association with Muthoot Fincorp and Popular Vehicles & Services, on 13th and 14th January 2018 at CIAL Convention Centre, Nedumbassery next to the international airport in Kochi.
Being one of India’s biggest pageants of power, the Pete’s Festival of Speed event brings together the choicest audience from across the country. This year there’s a lot more in store for the auto enthusiasts than ever before. With rallies, autocross, motocross, karting, contests, and exhibits along with entertainment, fun and food and much more.
Pete’s Festival of Speed is a weekend event which brings together a range of adrenaline-pumping performances such as Pete’s Super Sunday, MRF Mogrip National Supercross Championship, Popular Autocross, Red Bull superbike stunt show, a rock show by Thaikkudam Bridge, etc.
Pete’s Super Sunday, a biennial event organized by Pete’s Automotive, offers the auto enthusiasts of the country close encounters with the ultimate supercars and superbikes of the world.

For over a decade, Pete’s has been presenting the auto connoisseurs of the country a range of custom-tuning services along with performance-enhancing and detailing products from the best innovators and manufacturers in the world.
The Festival of Speed is the fourth such event organised by the tuner after having successfully arranged the four edition of Pete’s Super Sunday. The festival was held in a convention centre spread across 30,000 sq. ft. area for the supercars on display by the owners and dealers. The outdoor zone, which spreads over 2.5 lakh sq. ft., had stalls for auto accessories and performance parts. There were also superbike stalls from the dealers.
Supercars from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Lexus and Aston Martin were displayed at the show. These beauties and more, including the Ford Mustang, Nissan GTR, Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster and Jaguar, BMW and Audi cars were all lined up in their finest finish to set the visitors’ eyes rolling at the festival.
National Supercross
The opening round of the MRF MoGrip National Supercross championship was held here. The event was organised by Pune’s Godspeed Racing in association with Pete’s Festival of Speed.
The championship, a six-leg series for two-wheelers that also runs through Coimbatore, Jaipur, Indore, Nasik and Goa, will have competitions in nine categories including the glamorous foreign open class.
Many top riders, including defending champion Harith Noah, C.D. Jinan, and Ragved Barguje attended the event.
Harith Noah stole the limelight, with his victory in the glamorous Class 1 SX-1 Foreign Open Class event. While in SX 2, Saijith ES and Mahesh VM extracted the maximum from their well-prepared bike to win the first moto and second moto respectively.
With daring stunts and breath-taking racing, the supercross was definitely the highlight of the week.
Popular Autocross
The Popular Autocross, backed by Popular Automobiles, became another major event at the Festival of Speed and many top drivers showed up in this four-wheeler event.
Autocross is a timed competition in which drivers navigate one at a time through a defined course on either a sealed or unsealed surface, driving against the clock. In this case, the track was made among the barren and challenging dry and dusty wasteland near the airport which spread in wide expanse.
Despite the gruelling track and dust, the competitors had a great time racing the tracks, which even saw the active participation of many female drivers and various amateur entries.
Bikku Babu won the Popular Autocross for four-wheelers at the CIAL Ground, Nedumbassery, on Sunday. Bikku, from Kochi, covered the 1500m two-lap open event in 131.10s and the 1600cc category honours in 131.94s.
Competitions were held in seven categories and sisters Afrin and Farsana took the first and third prizes in the ladies event with Sivani Prithvi finishing as the runner-up.
