
Dr. Ali Sebaa Al Marri, the Executive President of Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai (MBRSG), is a well known strategic planner, leadership trainer and educational reformer in the United Arab Emirates. Under his guidance the school is committed to enhance the expertise in leadership qualities through executive educational programs consisting of a diversity of courses and topics. The MBRSG, formerly known as the Dubai School of Government. is a research and teaching institution focusing on public policy in the Arab world. In his new role, Dr Al Marri is mandated to spearhead the educational and regulatory affairs at the college. In addition to supervising the implementation of educational programs, he is also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the School’s activities in accordance with the policies and regulations set by the Board of Trustees and the Government of Dubai.
Dr. Ali Al Marri has become the Executive President of MBRSG, based on a Dubai Executive Council resolution no (21) for year 2013, issued by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. In the school, he is authorized to directly oversee the administrative and strategic aspects of the School, in addition to supervising the development and execution of its academic programs in compliance with the instructions issued by the Board of Trustees and the Government of Dubai.
In fact, it is his commitment to developing his personal skills and applying them for the benefit of enhancing the government’s performance that has greatly influenced his selection for the high-profile position. Prior to joining the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, Dr Al Marri was Director of Strategic Planning and a Faculty member at the Dubai Police Academy It is a great privilege for the School to be named ‘Mohammed bin Rashid’ after the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Dr Al Marri said: “I am honored to join the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government. It is a great privilege forthe School to be named ‘Mohammed bin Rashid’ after the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Our Ruler is reputed worldwide for leading by example and as a visionary who continues to surprise the world with his proactive and long term ideas for Dubai and the UAE. He believes that leadership is a key area that enables the MBRSG, to contribute enormously to the future development of UAE. The main focus of the school is on empowering leaders and shaping the future through positive energy and positive leadership. According to him, a positive leader is someone who instills motivation and takes advantage of opportunities and strength to lead the people of any entity or organization.
The MPA program is focused on public policy, governance and best practices which are key factors of development. The program is aimed to mold its students in such a way that they will be able to take up leadership in the future.
Dr. Ali Sebaa Al Marri is a Master of Law from the Dubai Police Academy and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree holder in Leadership and Strategy from Bradford University, UK. He has also obtained Administrative Certificates as a Certified Manager of the six sigma quality, project management, process improvement and strategic development.
He is the winner of Sheikh Rashid Award for Academic Excellence for 2012 and the Best Paper Award from the Fourth Annual Scottish Doctoral Management Conference, University of St Andrews, in 2008. His recognitions also include a number of badges of appreciation and certificates of merit during his service with the Dubai Police. He has contributed a lot in building and developing strategies at Dubai Police, in addition to the membership of committees and teams participating in Dubai Government Excellence program. According to Dr. Ali Sebaa Al Marri, “A great responsibility rests on the School to support government performance in the UAE and take it forward; and more so to live up to the excellence of its name. MBRSG explores collaboration with Montenegro The MBRSG, which is a research and teaching institution focusing on public policy in the Arab world, has explored opportunities for collaboration with Montenegro during the visit of Dr Jovan Koji, Advisor to the Prime Minister of the South East European country. During his visit, Dr Koji met Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri, Executive President of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government, and faculty members leading the training and executive education programs at MBRSG. The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation between Montenegro and the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government in the areas of training, education and development programs. Dr. Jovan Koji expressed the hope that Montenegro could benefit from MBRSG’s experience in developing leadership skills and government competencies.
Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri said : “The MBRSG, works continuously towards showcasing the UAE as a successful model in administration and leadership. This model is ranked first for government efficiency and excellence in the World Competitiveness Report 2014. We look forward to sharing our academic experience with Montenegro and widen our understanding of European public policy.”
Dr Jovan Koji, Advisor to Montenegro’s Prime Minister, said: “Montenegro is a developing country. We seek to establish collaborative partnerships with different countries around the world and work resolutely towards building efficiencies across various administrative bodies in our own country. The Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government is committed to promoting good governance through enhancing the region’s capacity for effective public policy. The school uses a four-pronged approach, which includes applied research in public policy and management, academic programs in public policy and administration, executive education programs and knowledge forums for scholars and policy makers.
