Breaking the glass ceiling

“Women can achieve great things. The best thing to do is to focus on one’s goals, and not let distractions have an impact on the same”

Dr Sneha Rakesh, Managing Director, Akarmaxs Tech Pvt Ltd, hails from a humble background from the rural parts of Hassan, Karnataka. High-spirited and ambitious as a young girl, she was always driven by the aim of transcending barriers and carving a niche for herself. Her surroundings and the situations she was exposed to shaped her perspective, kindling in her the desire to break the glass ceiling and inspiring others to aim for the same.

Sneha started off at the age of 19, pursued a diploma in Computer Science and is a holder of MSc Computer Engineering. She saw how highly efficient people from the villages were being bogged down by economic insufficiency or lack of proper avenues, and hence, went on to unveil Samgraabhivrudhi Trust to address issues pertaining to the same.

She started Akarmaxs Tech Pvt Ltd, a tech-based company in 2015, to lend web and app development services and assistance for businesses to gain a footing in the industry. Seeing immense possibilities in the digital marketing sector, Sneha started providing branding and digital solutions through her venture.

The entrepreneur goes on to say, “Women can achieve great things. The best thing to do is to focus on one’s goals, and not let distractions have an impact on the same.”

She takes pride in saying that Akarmaxs Tech Pvt Ltd, today has offices in Singapore and Dubai, and provides aid, when it comes to dealing with business problems and gives solutions, with regard to advertising, brand identity and all things related to the web.

She has umpteen achievements to her credit. She is the recipient of the National award for Indian emerging icon for Best Young Entrepreneur and was among the Top 40 under 40 EU-Brussels India Leaders, among many others. She has received the International Achiever Award, Bangkok, and Honorary Doctorate from Niti Aayog, and has won Women Achiever of the Year Award by Natural Resource of India, Rashtriya Yuva Puraskar, on her wall of achievements.

Sneha has actively been involved in Philanthropy, and has volunteered help during natural disasters and donated medicines, food, sanitary pads and other essentials in several parts of Karnataka.

She says that it is wrong to keep expecting for swift outcomes, as even a sapling can’t bear fruits in one day. “All things in life take time. I would tell young entrepreneurs to never stop dreaming, as there is no backup. Be prepared and be well equipped to take risks.”
