Emirati royal showcases meaningful canvas for children

Her work so far speaks volumes about the personality that she is, and aptly reflects how she has always been motivated to lead the way

Sheikha Maryam Saqer Al Qasimi has been one of the most significant women achievers from Emirates Royal family and has been setting an example for other Emirati women.

She has been a columnist in a prominent newspaper, and is a successful children’s author. Her work so far speaks volumes about the personality that she is, and aptly reflects how she has always been motivated to lead the way.

The young writer is currently doing her masters in translating young readers’ books. Her published books include Curious Adam, Complete Together, Where Are the Letters?, Hakeem Al Arab and Saqi el Maa. She was awarded Sharjah’s children book award 2018.

‘Where Are the Letters?’ saw itself getting adapted into a musical play. She has also been actively initiating workshops and making it more engaging for children with reading.

She believes that reading books for kids is important and developing a reading habit early on is crucial to growth on the personal and professional level.

Sheikha Maryam Saqer Al Qassimi’s next children’s book is titled Diversity, and comprises colourful illustrations. The book aims to help children understand the meaning of diversity, forging a sense of acceptance in them.

She has carved a niche as an author over the years. What makes her writing stand apart is the fact that she delves into an array of topics such as cooperation, tolerance, acceptance and diversity, thereby prompting children to start looking at the larger scheme of things.
