Waking up to a dream that becomes a lifelong passion can be an intimidating thought to pursue. However, a classic example of perseverance and conviction, Roohy Khan is an Artist/Arabic Calligrapher and a curator based in Saudi Arabia who decided to pursue calligraphy as a passion and career option after taking inspiration from a dream wherein she saw herself as a Arabic calligraphy artist. However, she was planning to take masters in Biotechnology at that time, which she didn’t drop. Instead, Roohy also took a masters in Fine arts that would help her in pursuing her passion of doing Arabic Calligraphy. To further excel her Artistic skills, she studied Diploma in Arabic Calligraphy and Graphic Design from K.A Nizami Centre for Quranic Studies, Aligarh Muslim University.

Hailing from the city of Bhopal, Roohy is the founder of Mawhub Art Gallery in Saudi Arabia and a member of Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts (SASCA). Her accomplishments include numerous accolades that she has received from dignitaries across the globe as well as other recognitions and awards that have come her way. This is also something that she vouches for, to have a dream that prompts you to take a not-so-frequently travelled path. She is of the opinion that believing in oneself and working towards refining the talent is the best tool for succeeding in life.

Things are never easy for those who decide to pursue their dreams. Explaining about the challenges that she had to face, Roohy says, “I always keep myself associated with my art irrespective of how many challenges or hurdles I have to face. It is my passion towards calligraphy coupled with dedication and strong belief in my talent that acts as the driving force against the shortcomings. I would say that Consistent hard work has helped me sail through the challenging times.”

Roohy has participated in 39 solo and group exhibitions in various countries including India, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Pakistan. She has also curated 4 International Art Exhibitions in Riyadh.She has also received the National Award in All India Calligraphy Competition and Exhibition 2014 that was held at M.F Hussain Art Gallery in New Delhi, India. Some of her Artworks are also part of Government Museums in India.
